STS-01 test station for electric motors

The STS-01 stand is a test station used for single- and three-phase electric motors.

The stand is equipped with equipment enabling mounting and connection of the motor winding terminals via a measuring probe.

Test station has automatic protection against direct contact in accordance with the provisions of the PN-EN 50191-2002 standard “Installation and operation of electrical test stands”. The housing of the test chamber is made in the IP3X class. To carry out measurements of the electrical parameters of the tested engine at idle speed, start-up is performed by connecting the engine windings directly to the power supply network.

STS-01 station is controlled from a PC equipped with the Windows XP Embedded operating system and a keyboard, mouse and monitor.

The software controlling the stand collects data from the tested engine database entered by the technologist. The test result is saved to a *.csv file, which is the basis for the analysis of measurement results.

Tests performed at the station are conducted in the following order:

1.      Voltage withstand test – motor insulation test performed on the basis of the product test recorded in the PN-EN 60034-1:2009 standard “Rotating electrical machines – Part 1: Rating and parameters”. The test voltage is specified in the above standard at 1.5 kV AC 50 Hz for single-phase asynchronous motors and 1.8 kV AC 50 Hz for three-phase asynchronous motors. The voltage withstand test is performed between the shorted ends of the motor windings and its housing.

2.      No-load test – phase voltage supply U=230 V AC 50 Hz for single-phase asynchronous motors, phase-to-phase voltage supply U=400 V AC 50 Hz for three-phase asynchronous motors. The source of energy is a three-phase power supply network to which the test stand is connected.

The test process is controlled by a computer installed in the control cabinet together with the electrical equipment. The control computer controls and sets the operating parameters of the measuring devices installed in the test stand.
