How does thermocompression welding work?
Thermocompression is a process of joining small metal elements by heating and pressing. Joints made by this method have very good electrical conductivity and considerable mechanical strength. In some respects, this process is similar to soldering, but it is distinguished by the lack of the need for adhesives. However, depending on the materials being joined, it may be necessary to pre-treat the material.
Description
The principle of operation is based on heating a tungsten or steel electrode to a high temperature and pressing its tip to the elements being joined. Such welding does not require current flow through the elements being joined.
Additionally, the electrode can be shaped to cut the wire to facilitate tearing off the unnecessary tip.
The device is controlled by a controller that allows for setting the appropriate welding parameters: heating time, pressure time, current intensity value heating the electrode, pressure force.
