The new SIGILENT SNA 5002A network analyzer – a guarantee of NeoTAG measurement quality

A new era of measurements in our laboratory -
the SIGILENT SNA 5002A analyzer

In the world of innovative technologies, there are moments that are unforgettable. One such moment is when you get your hands on a modern tool that not only streamlines your work but opens up new perspectives! In our case, such an event is the introduction of the SIGILENT SNA 5002A vector network analyzer into production.

Why is it so important?

For us, RFID tags are a product group where precision isn’t a luxury. It’s an absolute necessity! In an age of miniaturization and smart everything, NeoTAG smart tags must maintain exceptional precision, because every nuance, every change in product parameters can be crucial and determine the correct or incorrect operation of identification system components.

Our NeoTAGs, tiny RFID tags, are manufactured to the highest standards because we demand uncompromising quality and repeatability. And to ensure this, you need equipment that measures not just “right,” but unquestionably, accurately, and repeatably.

What exactly does a network analyzer measure?

In RFID technology, the resonant frequency of the antenna (tag) plays a key role in production. It’s dictated by the NFC/RFID standard and determines the effectiveness of communication between the NeoTAG and the reader—or its lack thereof. If the resonance shifts even slightly outside the specified range, it can mean poorer reading range, greater susceptibility to interference, or even failure to correctly identify the tag.

Additionally, experience shows that the required resonance frequency varies depending on the installation environment. Electromagnetic waves propagate differently around conductive materials (metal, especially steel) than around non-conductive materials (e.g., cardboard or plastic). Therefore, precise monitoring and control of the resonance frequency is crucial.

Our new SIGILENT SNA 5002A analyzer allows us to measure this frequency with the highest accuracy, ensuring that every NeoTAG operates stably and reliably under real-world conditions.

ESD - an invisible but real opponent

When measuring and testing NeoTAGs, it’s crucial to maintain ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection. Although invisible to the naked eye, these discharges can have a devastating effect on the delicate structures of integrated circuits and antennas. Even a small spark, unnoticeable to the human eye, can permanently damage the RFID chip or degrade its performance, also shortening the product’s lifespan. Therefore, we employ protective measures: grounding the workstations, working on special dissipative mats and wearing special clothing, also using special antistatic accessories, such as tweezers.

This complex procedure ensures that every measurement performed by the SIGILENT SNA 5002A network analyzer is not only reliable but also safe for the product itself. This is another step towards guaranteeing the highest quality of NeoTAGs.

What does this mean for NeoTAG products?

For us, the SIGILENT SNA 5002A is more than just another instrument in our range of measurement capabilities. It’s a true quality guardian. It allows us to analyze frequency parameters with surgical precision, detect subtle deviations, and ensure that each product in the NeoTAG family meets the most rigorous standards. It’s equipment like this that guarantees the highest quality of products manufactured at NEOTECH.

Some might ask: is such an advanced analyzer really necessary? The answer is: absolutely. Because in innovation, there’s no room for half-measures. Just as a watchmaker needs a good magnifying glass or microscope to perfect a mechanism, we need a tool that allows us to see what’s invisible to the naked eye.

And that’s why we’re as excited as children about a new toy – though in this case, it’s a toy that contributes to the future of NeoTAG products and customer satisfaction. The SIGILENT SNA 5002A is our silent ally in the pursuit of perfection.

Because at NEOTECH, quality isn't just a slogan on a leaflet. Quality is a process in which every measurement matters!
